Last month we sponsored our own pizza challenge to all the pizza shops in Raleigh. We went around as a group to 4 of Raleigh’s best pizza shops.

Each one of these locations was happy to have us come out and try their pizza. At each location people would come up to me and tell me how good the pizza was. I really liked all of them and I’ll admit you can’t really go wrong with any of these pizza shops. Personally, I’d say if you want something a little bit healthier I’d recommend Zpizza, if you want to have a truly unique creation in a eclectic atmosphere try out Lilly’s, If you like over sized thin crust New York style pizza in a really awesome dive bar go to Ruckus and if you’re on New Bern Ave, out by Wake Med, swing by Frank’s!
Anyway, after all the votes were counted Ruckus & Lilly’s were tied for 1st. I honestly don’t know how I’ll crown the winner yet? I kind of hate ties in contests like this because to me they always feel like scams. But, in all seriousness they tied. If you didn’t vote, IT’S YOUR FAULT THEY TIED!!! It really ended up just being a 2 man race between Ruckus & Lilly’s. I’m glad it worked out that way. After all those are my two favorite pizza places in Raleigh! But I have to give an honorable mention to our 3rd place contestant who’s pizza I’ve never tried, Vic’s Italian Restaurant. They claimed 3rd place and we didn’t even take a group out there so that must say something about their pizza! Curious enough to do one more pizza event?? 🙂
As a final note!
I’d like to thank everyone that participated in our pizza contest, all the pizza shops and all the people who came out. It was a lot of fun and I’m gearing up for our Sushi Contest next month! I’m anticipating an even larger turn out. I hope the sushi joints are ready for us!!
